DJ & Musician Event Invoicing
DJs and musicians often work for cash on the spot. That works until you need a paper trail for taxes. A proper invoice protects both of you.
Event-based pricing
DJs charge per event: $300-1,000+ depending on event type and location. Musicians charge per gig or per hour. A wedding isn't the same as a corporate event or a bar mitzvah. Your invoice should reflect that.
What to include
- Event date, time, location
- Event type (wedding, corporate, club)
- Duration (4 hours, 6 hours)
- Equipment provided (sound system, lights, etc.)
- Base rate
- Travel or mileage if applicable
- Deposit due date and amount
- Balance due date (usually the day of the event)
Deposit is standard
Always require 50% deposit when booked. Non-refundable, since you're holding the date and turning down other gigs. Invoice the deposit immediately. Invoice the balance due on the day of the event.
Equipment or last-minute requests
Client wants uplighting added a week before? That's an add-on invoice at your rate for equipment rental and setup.
